The strength of the The Rockets in 2016 lies in the lower half of the lineup, led by the sophomore trio of Russell Benson, Christian Sookdeo, and AJ Erven. That threesome are coming off very strong rookie seasons and should be headed towards an even bigger campaign in 2016. Last season, with Raritan's frosh and the senior trio of Dylan Seidenberg, Eric Drake, and Mike Chadwick, the overlooked guy in the group seemed to be Jimmy Vanfechtman, but he quietly had a very strong season for the Rockets, putting up 16 wins. Keep an eye on him this year to have a breakout season. Providing further power to the lower half of this group will be pair of talented freshmen in Charles Barrale and Anthony Aquilano. The potential is here for this to be one of the best group of lower weights in the Shore.
Up top, the records from a year ago might not jump out at you, but this has the potential to be a tough group. Adam Bryant, Joe Stabile, Mike Gillen, and Aaron Daniels had the tough task of being first year starters in a portion of the lineup usually loaded with experience. They showed potential and wrestled tough, and should all be set up for strong seasons with the full year of experience under their belts. Nick Bohal, a 28-match winner who placed 2nd in the Districts a year ago, is back, as is another senior, Jarred Lonnay, who missed most of 2015 after suffering an early season injury. He won 9 bouts as a sophomore in 2014, and could be a sleeper here for a big season.
You can pretty much cut and paste the projections for Raritan each and every year. They are one of the hardest working teams during the off-season, they are a tenacious group that goes six minutes, they are going to be in the hunt for the Division and Sectional titles, and will make noise in the individual tournaments. As far as the Division goes, the Rockets have won the A-Central division in 10 of the 11 seasons it has existed. Their main competition for the title this year would again appear to be St. John Vianney, who they are schedule to face on December 22. Should also be noted that the non-Division schedule is no picnic, highlighted by a trip to Phillipsburg, as well as dates with Wall, Ocean Township, Long Branch, Hackettstown, Camden Catholic, and Wayne Valley, among others.

The strength of the The Rockets in 2016 lies in the lower half of the lineup, led by the sophomore trio of Russell Benson, Christian Sookdeo, and AJ Erven. That threesome are coming off very strong rookie seasons and should be headed towards an even bigger campaign in 2016. Last season, with Raritan's frosh and the senior trio of Dylan Seidenberg, Eric Drake, and Mike Chadwick, the overlooked guy in the group seemed to be Jimmy Vanfechtman, but he quietly had a very strong season for the Rockets, putting up 16 wins. Keep an eye on him this year to have a breakout season. Providing further power to the lower half of this group will be pair of talented freshmen in Charles Barrale and Anthony Aquilano. The potential is here for this to be one of the best group of lower weights in the Shore.
Up top, the records from a year ago might not jump out at you, but this has the potential to be a tough group. Adam Bryant, Joe Stabile, Mike Gillen, and Aaron Daniels had the tough task of being first year starters in a portion of the lineup usually loaded with experience. They showed potential and wrestled tough, and should all be set up for strong seasons with the full year of experience under their belts. Nick Bohal, a 28-match winner who placed 2nd in the Districts a year ago, is back, as is another senior, Jarred Lonnay, who missed most of 2015 after suffering an early season injury. He won 9 bouts as a sophomore in 2014, and could be a sleeper here for a big season.
You can pretty much cut and paste the projections for Raritan each and every year. They are one of the hardest working teams during the off-season, they are a tenacious group that goes six minutes, they are going to be in the hunt for the Division and Sectional titles, and will make noise in the individual tournaments. As far as the Division goes, the Rockets have won the A-Central division in 10 of the 11 seasons it has existed. Their main competition for the title this year would again appear to be St. John Vianney, who they are schedule to face on December 22. Should also be noted that the non-Division schedule is no picnic, highlighted by a trip to Phillipsburg, as well as dates with Wall, Ocean Township, Long Branch, Hackettstown, Camden Catholic, and Wayne Valley, among others.
